Schwalbe Motion Big Apple Tyre marks the next evolution of one of the most recognisable comfort tyres in cycling. Released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the world’s first Balloonbike tyre, it combines modern design, exceptional comfort and a strong focus on environmental responsibility.

Developed as the successor to the popular Big Ben and the new generation of the classic Big Apple, this tyre delivers the same renowned balloon-style comfort while incorporating Schwalbe’s latest technology and sustainability improvements.

The Motion Big Apple uses the innovative ADDIX Green compound, Schwalbe’s most environmentally friendly rubber formula. This advanced compound contains approximately 80% renewable and recycled raw materials while still delivering dependable grip and long-lasting performance. It includes recycled carbon black recovered through Schwalbe’s tyre recycling programme and is manufactured using 100% fair-trade natural rubber.

Comfort remains at the heart of the Big Apple concept. Thanks to its large air volume, the tyre absorbs road imperfections and uneven surfaces with lower air pressures, acting like natural suspension. This allows it to roll smoothly over asphalt, paving and even light forest paths while maintaining excellent stability and efficiency.

The updated tread design features a modern aesthetic while maintaining the versatile characteristics that make the Big Apple so popular. The large-volume construction cushions bumps and vibrations, delivering a smooth ride without the need for complex suspension systems.

Designed primarily for city and touring use, the Motion Big Apple is well suited to urban commuting, leisure rides and longer touring journeys. It is also approved for E-25 e-bikes and works equally well on traditional trekking and city bikes. Its comfort-focused performance also makes it a great choice for children’s bikes, youth bikes and lightweight cargo bikes.

The Motion Big Apple also introduces Schwalbe’s new “Motion” product family, a fresh category within the brand’s city and touring range that sits alongside the well-known Marathon series. Additional tyres within the Motion family are expected to follow in the coming years.
